Storyworks At Centennial College
Centennial College Journalism students have contributed to the Global Summitry Project (GSP) since 2018, including providing media coverage from all the Informals including the G7/T7, G20/T20 Summits but also from the BRICS and from APEC.
This program recognizes that ‘experience is everything’. In partnership with the Global Summitry Project (GSP) Storyworks provides chosen journalism students with ‘bite-sized’ industry experience. These students join GSP in its various global summitry and global governance initiatives interviewing experts and officials and providing background articles for the ongoing Projects at GSP. In addition, now, the journalism students are adding social media pieces including podcasts, Instagram and other social media pieces.

Due to the continuing pandemic, the Storyworks student journalists were unable to travel to any of the targeted Summits that the Global Summitry Project hoped to attend. Instead, this year we turned our attention to journalists and the growing threat to press freedom for journalists in a growing list of populist and authoritarian governments. As these interviews and videos show the threats are very real and threaten not just press freedom but democracy itself.
The following interviews are the results of these inquiries. Cyan Ko and Henrique Fernandes Faustino worked with us in the Spring and this Fall we had the pleasure of working with Jamie Casemore.
