WHAT IS GSP?
Global Summitry Project (GSP) - 'Bringing Global Governance to the World'
Founded at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto, The Global Summitry Project (GSP) promotes the examination and research of global governance issues and the behavior of the contemporary global order. It targets key formal and informal global governance institutions and a variety of key gatherings at the global summitry level.
Through its blog, Rising BRICSAM, GSP follows leading and rising powers and key influential states. Through its two Twitter accounts – ‘@GlobalSummitry’ and ‘@risingBRICSAM’, a steady stream of information and insights on the global order can be found.
The GSP also engages special global governance subjects through its e-journal and three podcast series: ‘Shaking the Global Order’, ‘Summit Dialogue’ and ‘Now’. Furthermore, the GSP YouTube channel features video interviews with experts and former officials on global summitry and the challenges to global governance. All these platforms include stellar editorial advisory boards.
In addition to these efforts, the GSP has been part of several research projects. The first is the ‘China-West Dialogue’ (CWD)—a global research effort to examine US-Europe-China-Asia relations in the context of rising US-China tensions. The GSP also conducts research on Agenda 2030 and has pressed forward on examining and assessing the progress in this global development initiative. Lastly, the GSP’s StoryWorks project engages journalism colleagues from Centennial College in Toronto which gives budding journalism students experience in research and writing on international issues, and experience in attending summits.
The GSP has developed a series of partnerships with world-ranking research institutes, think tanks, academic centres, and experts around the globe on critical questions about the future global order. One area of particular interest has been on strengthening the G20 and global governance, generally. The partnerships contribute to the authoritative documentation and research reports that are posted to the GSP website. These reports, archives, and links have established the GSP website as a must-visit site for China-West relations, global governance, global order and global summitry issues.
